The Mughal Empire

Era of Imperial Grandeur and Cultural Fusion (1526 AD - 1707 AD)

Babur: The Founder

Following the First Battle of Panipat (1526), Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodi and established the Mughal Dynasty, bringing gunpowder warfare to India.

Akbar the Great

Known for his policy of religious tolerance (Sulh-i-kul) and the efficient Mansabdari administrative system. He expanded the empire across North and Central India.

Golden Age of Architecture

Under Shah Jahan, Mughal architecture reached its peak. He built the Taj Mahal, Red Fort, and Jama Masjid, using white marble and intricate Pietra Dura work.

Aurangzeb & Decline

The last of the "Great Mughals." While the empire reached its maximum territorial extent under him, constant wars and the rise of Marathas/Sikhs eventually led to its fragmentation.
